Mechanical Contracts Manager\n\nOur client is a well-established M&E Installation Contractor are seeking an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager to take ownership of a new student accommodation project, building over 800 plots, in Birmingham. This role will be permanent and ongoing to see completion of site. \n\nRates depending on qualifications and experience 60-80k+.

\n\nThis Contracts Manager is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and completing mechanical projects within scope, schedule, and budget. They coordinate between clients, design teams, procurement, and site execution teams to ensure successful project delivery that meets technical, safety, and quality standards.\n\nJob description - \n\nProject Planning & Initiation\n\nDevelop detailed project plans including scope, timelines, resources, and budget.\nDefine project objectives and deliverable aligned with client requirements.\nPrepare risk assessments, method statements, and project execution strategies.Design & Engineering Coordination\n\nCollaborate with design and engineering teams to review drawings and technical specifications.\nEnsure that mechanical designs comply with industry standards and client requirements.\nCoordinate with other disciplines (civil, electrical, instrumentation) for integration.Procurement & Resource Management\n\nPrepare material take-offs (MTO) and coordinate procurement schedules.\nEvaluate and select subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.\nManage project inventory and logistics to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.\nMonitor costs to ensure alignment with the project budget.Project Execution & Monitoring\n\nOversee site activities to ensure progress aligns with the project plan.\nManage site teams, supervisors, and subcontractors effectively.\nConduct regular progress meetings with stakeholders.\nTrack performance metrics (progress, cost, quality, safety).\nImplement corrective actions for any deviations in schedule or cost.Quality & Safety Management\n\nEnforce company and client safety standards on site.\nEnsure quality assurance and control (QA/QC) procedures are followed.\nConduct inspections and testing as per project specifications.\nMaintain documentation for audits and client approvals.Client & Stakeholder Communication\n\nServe as the primary contact for the client and consultants.\nProvide regular project status reports and presentations.\nManage client expectations and handle change orders professionally.\nMaintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Project Closure & Handover\n\nEnsure completion of punch lists and final documentation (as-built drawings, O&M manuals).Key Skills & Qualifications Needed - \n\nStrong leadership and communication skills.\nExcellent understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, fabrication, etc.).\nProficiency in project management software (Primavera, MS Project, etc.).\nFamiliarity with safety regulations and quality standards (ISO, ASME, API).\nBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).\n5-10+ years of experience in mechanical project execution/management.\nPMP or PRINCE2 certification ().If available and interested please call Padstone on (phone number removed)
