This position is a temporary contingent Mechanical Drafter to join our organization for approximately 90 days with potential extension.
Why a contractor/contingent need? This engineering team supports another team’s requests for instrument drawing (AutoCAD 2D) updates. We have many drawings that need to be updated per the current specifications and Artisan's requested changes. Hence, the need for temporary drafting services to help reduce the backlog of requested drawing updates.
- Duration: 3 months, with possibility of extension
- Hourly rate: $24.13 - 38.46 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and internal equity. Offer at the higher end of the range are reserved for candidates with exceptional qualifications.
- Location: This position is based at our headquarters, south of downtown St. Paul. We value collaboration in our on-site work environment, Monday through Friday. Please note that we do not offer remote or hybrid work options.
- Work hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm
- This position reports to a Product Development Manager, receiving guidance and training from another drafter and a project engineer.
What You’ll Do As a Mechanical Drafter:
The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for creating, revising CAD models and detailed drawings using AutoCAD LT 2025.
- Prepare redline, new and revise existing detailed drawings to document specifications as requested.
- Take measurements of sample instruments as needed for drawing preparation.
- Provide accurate and timely drawings for approval.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- 3+ years’ work experience with AutoCAD in manufacturing.
- 3+ years’ work experience developing 3-D solid models using SolidWorks and creating detailed drawings is
- Experience with using metrology equipment (Caliper, Micrometer, Gage Pins).
- Formal training as a Mechanical Drafter following ASME Y14.
Skills:
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office experience
- Knowledge of Trigonometry and Geometry.
- Print reading ability, ability to figure out auxiliary views, tolerance stack up assessment, multi-view sketching or drawing.
- Ability to use calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
- Organizational skills.
