Location: Baytown, TX

Work Setting: Onsite, industrial manufacturing environment

Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts:
  • 7 AM to 7 PM
  • 7 PM to 7 AM
  • Two possible schedules:
  • Alpha:
  • Work mostly Monday–Friday
  • Switch between day shift and night shift
  • Omega:
  • 2 days on → 2 days off → 3 days on
  • Includes weekends
  • Important:
  • You must be OK working days OR nights
  • You must be OK working weekends
  • You may be moved between Alpha and Omega if needed


Compensation: $21.00/hr starting rate for most hires; up to $26/hr for exceptional, highly transferable experience

Position Summary

The Mechanical Assembly Technician is a hands-on, physically demanding role within a high-volume industrial manufacturing facility. Technicians support the production of flexible steel-reinforced pipe by setting up and operating mechanical equipment, performing mechanical assembly tasks, and troubleshooting machinery to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role works directly on the steel strip production process and requires strong mechanical aptitude, reliability, and comfort working around heavy machinery.


Technicians are assigned to either the Alpha or Omega rotating 12-hour shift schedule and must be open to both day and night rotations. Candidates with automotive repair experience, welding backgrounds, blueprint reading ability, or prior industrial work often excel in this role. Manufacturing experience is but not required for mechanically inclined individuals.


What You’ll Do

  • Set up and operate mechanical equipment used in flexible pipe manufacturing
  • Perform mechanical assembly tasks in equipment preparation and operation
  • Conduct routine equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting
  • Read and interpret schematics, measurements, and technical documentation
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to meet production and quality goals
  • Complete documentation and report equipment or production issues
  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and certifications
  • Work in industrial conditions including loud noise, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and around heavy machinery


What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience (mechanical assembly, repair, or equipment operation)
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (days & nights), weekends, and schedule changes
  • Comfortable working in demanding industrial environments
  • Physical capability to lift 50 lbs, stand for 12 hours, climb, kneel, work in confined spaces, and operate heavy tools
  • Reliable work tenure and stable employment history
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently

Qualifications

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and measure tolerances
  • Prior experience in steel, pipe, fabrication, or heavy industrial manufacturing
  • Previous night shift or rotating shift experience
  • Welding, automotive mechanical, or field technician background
