Mechanic II - Crane Team

Purpose:
Under general supervision, uses build sheets to assemble components for build-to-sales order configurations and performs a wide variety of related mechanical assembly duties on prototype units. Will be backup on TMP manufacturing when not building Crane Units.
Essential Job Functions:
- Obtain work instructions from the Build Book program on the computer to assemble all required parts in preparation for beginning of scheduled assembly project.
- Troubleshoot equipment to evaluate needed repairs.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical problems and complete appropriate repairs.
- Follow engineering drawings, bills of materials, and work instructions as required to complete the assembly process.
- Notify engineering as needed to document assembly changes.
- Lay out truck details per engineering prints on a job-by-job basis.
- Operate overhead and jib cranes as needed to lift and install crane componentry.
- Perform final assembly of all units, including hydraulic components, electrical harnesses, lights, mechanical components, and stickers to customers specifications.
- Connect hydraulic lines and fills such with oil in preparation for required testing.
- Test the assembled parts or products to ensure they are functioning properly and meets quality specifications.
- Perform test and PDI GIG’s on XCMG-Mounted cranes.
- Monitor and complete open production-related Andons as production units near completion.
- Comply with workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices and procedures.
- Maintain tools and the workspace in good condition.
- May perform similar or related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Physical Demands:
- Perform repetitive work while moving around, under, and over equipment while on the production floor 95% of the time.
- Perform work outdoors in all weather 5% of the time
Education/Skills/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- Formal training beyond high school (certification or associate’s degree in auto or heavy equipment repair), .
- Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical experience
- Previous experience with heavy mechanical equipment, .
- Familiarity with and understanding of hydraulic, electrical, gas and diesel systems.
- Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read blueprints, hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with computers to look up work instructions, track labor and other tasks as needed.
