Job Title

Meat Processing Production Manager

Pay Rate (Hourly/Salary)

$50,000-$65,000 per year

Education Requirement

High School Diploma required, AA or bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Meat Science, Food Production, Management, or Agricultural Industry.

Experience Requirement

Operations/Plant Manager: 3 + years

USDA and HAACP: 2 + years

Meat Processing Industry: 2 + years

Humane Handling, Harvesting, & Processing: 2+ years

Expected work days/times

M-F 7:30am – 4:30 pm (Full Time)

Position Overview
The Livestock Harvest Production Manager is the lead position at Lone Pine Abattoir that will oversee all daily operations including harvest, fabrication, packaging, and fulfillment. The ideal candidate is self-motivated with a strong ability to manage our production crew to meet customer orders and deadlines with excellent quality control. This Manager is dedicated to maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring a safe meat product for the consumer.

Qualifications

  • 3 or more years management experience in meat processing and cutting industry.
  • 2 or more years’ experience in USDA Meat Processing facility .
  • Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English (including email) effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to organize and maintain and structured work environment.
  • Bilingual is a plus, but not mandatory. Must be fluent in English.
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory bodies and compliance expectations (including OSHA/Safety, FSIS, USDA, EPA)

Responsibilities

  • All harvesting and fabrication processes such as stunning, scalding, scraping, skinning, preparation, fabrication, cutting, grinding, packing, labeling, and record keeping.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and manage day-to-day operations for harvest production.
  • Evaluate product at every level of the process and maintain high quality assurance.
  • Lead the crew by implementing the utmost level of organization, cleanliness, sanitation, and care to achieve the best quality standards.
  • Ensure employees have and properly use all required safety and food handling equipment/PPE.
  • Evaluate and train newly hired employees.
  • Professional communication skills to work with management, USDA, customers, vendors, shippers, etc.
  • Provide hands-on help with staff as needed.
  • Work with local USDA inspector and maintain proper records.
  • Directly involved with all aspects of employee management.
  • Draft schedules for staff, review/approve timesheets, and manage labor costs.
  • Manage inventory and necessary supplies.
  • Coordinate production, orders, shipping, and receiving.
