M&E CAD Technician

A client within the Private Sector based is currently recruiting for a fully remote M&E CAD Technician to join their Design team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, permanent position with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a CAD design environment.



The Role

Key purpose of the role is to produce accurate and compliant designs for fire alarm and fire suppression systems, supporting the wider engineering and project delivery teams. This role ensures that all life safety system designs meet relevant standards, integrate with building fire strategies, and are delivered to a high technical standard.



Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Produce accurate CAD drawings to relevant specifications and standards for water mist fire suppression systems.

• Generate reliable cost estimates and material requirements from approved drawings.

• Attend site meetings and undertake site surveys where required.

• Maintain robust drawing identification, version control, and registers.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable standards, including the production of hydraulic calculations.

• Coordinate designs with colleagues, installation engineers, clients, and other contractors.

• Complete all assigned training courses and maintain professional technical knowledge.

• Maintain timely and professional communication with colleagues and clients.

• Adhere to all company QHSE policies and report any concerns or incidents.



The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications:

• Relevant qualification in CAD design.

• Training certification in BS5839, BS8489, and BS8458 or ability to successfully achieve certification.

• Construction Scheme (CSCS) Card or ability to pass the CSCS Health & Safety Test.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

• Good knowledge of water mist fire suppression systems and the wider fire prevention sector.

• Knowledge of electrical systems, BIM L2, and RIBA stages.

• Competence in Microsoft applications and client-specific software.

• Ability to communicate at a technical level with customers and maintain good relationships.



The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering up to 30,000 per annum DOE.
