Position Summary: The Night Shift Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate flow of materials into the facility during the night shift. This role involves the unloading of inbound shipments and preparing materials for storage or distribution. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment safely. This position is critical to the timely processing of inventory and supports the overall supply chain operations of the company.
Responsibilities (May be dependent upon shift)
- Unload and Inspect Incoming Freight: Unload incoming freight, sign delivery documentation, and review the bill of lading against the quantity and quality of parts received. Noting any damage upon delivery is critical per Receiving Damaged Inbound Material TPI-227-R.
- Scrap Material Management: Loading and organizing a scrap wood and regrind trailer is required.
- Inventory and Material Management: Maintaining the part order and part storage yard areas. Assist in pulling parts to fulfill part orders. Assist in packaging of parts to fulfill part orders, including the use of various power tools to effectively crate outbound shipments.
- Support Production and Plant Operations: Assist employees in the stockroom, potentially receiving items and providing support in other areas of the plant as requested. Attend production meetings as required to stay informed and aligned with the team's goals.
- Maintain a Safe and Organized Workspace: Keeping work areas and the department clean and organized daily while adhering to all shop guidelines and safety procedures is necessary. Compliance with safety procedures in relation to equipment, department, shop-wide, and personal safety is required.
- Documentation and Procedures: Adherence to all training, processes and procedures is required.
Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience using warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks is . Prior forklift certification and manlift/scissor lift , but training and certification will be provided if necessary.
- Inventory and Scheduling: Experience with inventory systems, counting inventory, and maintaining min/max or bin reserve systems required.
- Inspection and Documentation: Experience with procedures for checking in and inspecting incoming freight, along with strong paperwork and scheduling skills is . Attention to detail is a must.
- Computer Proficiency: Demonstrate adequate computer skills, including basic use of Outlook is a must. Ability to learn proprietary software is required.
- Mechanical: Ability to use basic hand tools and to read a measuring tape down to 1/32 of an inch.
- Training and Standards: Willingness to take any in-house or out-of-house training as required. You must meet all quality and quantity standards for the job.
- Work Ethic: A self-starter who can work independently, without direct supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead.
- Ability to work in various temperature conditions typical of a manufacturing/warehouse environment as well as outdoors.
- Good visual acuity and depth perception
