Summary:
The Materials Handler position is responsible for operating powered equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking, counting product and pulling and preparing orders for delive1y. Helps support company operations by maintaining the flow of materials and products in manufacturing areas according to established guidelines. Responsible for helping to keep the warehouse space neat and orderly.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Pull and prepare orders for shipment, delivering the proper paperwork, packaging, and quantity for each order to the required destination in shipping and receiving.
- Operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, tractor, and all other necessary equipment.
- Utilize computer equipment to print and stage orders.
- Receive, verify, stage, and stock incoming materials.
- Remain knowledgeable of chemicals/material at facility and specific PPE requirements.
- Ensure the warehouse area is cleaned and that all safety procedures are being followed at all times by yourself and your teammates.
- Organize material in the warehouse to utilize available space and minimize steps when pulling orders.
- Inspect and maintain warehouse equipment.
- Attach identifying tags or mark product with identifying information.
- Read work orders and receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or materials or equipment needs.
- Assist office personnel with monthly physical inventory counts
- Comply with all safety rules, as well as all safety policies of the company, overseeing agencies, and any regulatory agencies.
- Exercise sound judgment and make decisions consistent to job functions, strategies, company goals and values.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Job Skills and Qualifications:
- Education and Certifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Forklift operating certification required (training and certification can be obtained through Company upon hire)
- Materials handling certifications relevant to the products in stock
- Work Experience:
- Experience with warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and computer-based inventory systems
