We are seeking an MRP Planner – Indirect Materials to help us ensure critical maintenance and repair parts are available when needed, minimizing downtime and supporting smooth facility operations. This candidate must be dedicated to operational excellence, reliability, and efficiency.


Job Summary
The MRP Planner – Indirect Materials will be responsible for planning, procuring, and managing spare parts, maintenance consumables, and other indirect materials. This role focuses on supporting the maintenance organization by ensuring that tools, spare parts, and repair items are available in the right quantities, at the right time, while avoiding excess or obsolete stock. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, advanced Excel expertise, and experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain material requirements plans for indirect (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) materials to support maintenance and facility needs.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory, reorder points and lead times.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of indirect materials.
  • Execute and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders for indirect supplies based on MRP results.
  • Follow up on purchase orders (POs), identify past due POs, and work with suppliers and procurement to resolve delays.”
  • Create cycle count lists, track variances, and assist with crib/warehouse inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain integrity of master data related to indirect materials (descriptions, stocking strategies, reorder parameters, etc.).
  • Use Microsoft Excel (advanced skills required: PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis, reporting, and dashboards) for data-driven planning and reporting.
  • Use Power BI to download, filter, and analyze data to track inventory and meet KPIs.
  • Generate and distribute reports on key metrics such as stockouts, cycle counts, supplier lead times, and crib fill rates.
  • Partner with Maintenance teams to forecast demand for critical spare parts and align stocking strategies with reliability goals.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through inventory optimization, supplier consolidation, and reduced obsolescence.

Qualifications & Skills
Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or related field .
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, PivotTables, complex formulas, data visualization, reporting).
  • 2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory control, purchasing, or related roles ().
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems; SAP experience .
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance, purchasing, and warehouse teams.

Work Environment:

  • On-site atthe Tonawanda, NY facility.
  • Primarily office-based with regular interaction at the crib/warehouse and with maintenance staff.
  • May involve handling light parts or reviewing physical inventory during cycle counts.
