Material Inspector - STP (Sewage Treatment Plant)

Description:
The Material
Inspector will be part of the site supervision team and will work
under the direction of the Resident Engineer to ensure the quality
and compliance of materials used on Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)
projects. The role involves site inspections material conformity
checks and coordination with the contractor to ensure adherence to
project specifications and approved
standards.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Inspect
site conditions prior to the start of construction activities.
Verify site compatibility with the designed permanent works
specific to STP infrastructure. - Check for
potential obstructions and document existing conditions including
utilities equipment and surrounding assets that may be affected by
the works. - Ensure that all existing facilities
and utilities are adequately protected before construction
begins. - Review all delivered materials and
equipment on site for conformance with approved material submittals
samples and technical specifications. Report discrepancies to the
Resident Engineer. - Verify appropriate storage
and handling of materials to prevent damage or contamination
particularly for critical STP components such as mechanical
equipment valves piping and process-related
items. - Inspect the construction of both
temporary and permanent works to confirm compliance with contract
requirements approved shop drawings and applicable QA/QC
standards. - Maintain daily records including
logs test results and progress of works as per Contract
Administration Procedures Manual. - Monitor
safety compliance and site progress; promptly report any safety
hazards or concerns to the RE. - Assist in the
inspection of completed works including preparing punch lists
supporting testing and commissioning of STP systems and
participating in handover activities. - Review
and comment on RFIs and material-related variance requests
submitted by the contractor providing technical input and
recommendations. - Interpret technical drawings
and specifications and enforce compliance during material
installation and
usage.
Qualifications
:
Qualifications:
- Relevant
technical diploma or certification in Civil Mechanical or Materials
Engineering.
Experience:
- Minimum
7 years of relevant experience in material inspection and
laboratory testing with a strong focus on STP or water/wastewater
treatment projects. - Proven experience in
large-scale infrastructure construction preferably with STP
mechanical components and associated
utilities. - Familiarity with international and
local material standards (BS ASTM Dubai Municipality etc.) related
to STP construction
works.
