Leidos is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Marine Technician to join our Maritime Systems Division (MSD). This role supports a wide range of testing and operational activities on Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs), ensuring they meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with hull, mechanical, and electrical (HM&E) systems and be capable of safely operating vessels of various sizes while maintaining appropriate certifications.

Primary Responsibilities

System Integration & Maintenance

  • Install, maintain, and repair HM&E systems on a variety of marine vessels.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues using appropriate tools and test equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal vessel performance.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to support accurate installations and repairs.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all testing and operations comply with applicable safety and regulatory standards.
  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards during vessel testing and operation.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies and classification societies to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard requirements and maritime regulations.

Vessel Operations

  • Operate vessels safely for testing, transport, and mission support.
  • Maintain valid certifications (e.g., Boater Safety Card or USCG Captain’s License) appropriate to vessel class and mission.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in marine technology or a related field .

Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a marine technician, deckhand, boat captain, or similar role.
  • Valid Boater Education Safety Card or U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License required.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of maritime safety and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in outdoor and onboard environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying equipment and tools (up to 50 lbs).
  • Comfortable working in variable weather and sea conditions.

Additional Notes

  • This position may require occasional travel (up to 25%) to support field testing and vessel operations.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work and security clearance requirements. Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required.

Pay Range:Pay Range $46,800.00 - $84,600.00
