A day in this role

As our Quality Technician, you are the steady hand on the manufacturing floor. Your morning starts with hourly audits and first-piece inspections to validate new runs. You read complex 2D drawings and apply GD&T per ANSI/ASME practices to verify that critical, major, and minor characteristics are in control. You confirm that gauges and instruments are within calibration—escalating to the Lead Quality Technician when service is due—and you document every finding so nonconformances are communicated without delay.

Throughout the day, you coach operators on inspection basics, partner with manufacturing to resolve quality issues at the source, and support customer-driven corrective and preventive actions alongside senior management and the Lead Quality Technician. You help with incoming inspections when needed, contribute to continuous improvement using PDCA, and ensure policies in the employee handbook are followed. Consistent attendance and reliability underpin everything you do—plus the flexibility to take on other duties as assigned.

What you’ll tackle

  • Conduct hourly quality audits and first-piece inspections for production runs.
  • Apply quality system policies and procedures; document results and immediately flag any nonconformances.
  • Interpret blueprints and complex 2D drawings; apply GD&T per ANSI/ASME standards.
  • Verify calibration status of measurement equipment; notify the Lead Quality Technician when calibration is required.
  • Provide foundational quality training to operators to align inspection activities with the quality management system.
  • Assist senior leadership and the Lead Quality Technician with customer-reported issues; lead corrective/preventive action initiatives.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to resolve quality-related problems at their root cause.
  • Participate in continuous improvement across all aspects of quality.
  • Perform incoming inspections of materials and components as needed.
  • Adhere to company policies outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance; perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office; Word and Excel .
  • Ability to work independently with strong follow-through and time management.
  • Familiarity with quality terminology, concepts, and basic statistics, including plotting data and recognizing out-of-control conditions.
  • Understanding of PDCA and team-based continuous improvement.
  • Hands-on experience with measurement methods and terminology; able to choose the right tools and techniques.
  • Skill in detecting inspection errors and driving resolution.
  • Understanding of calibration concepts and/or experience with gauge R&R.
  • Blueprint literacy with knowledge of critical, major, and minor characteristics.
  • Capability to use inspection planning tools, perform product audits, determine lot sample sizes, and pull random samples.
  • Knowledge of general testing methods; testing experience in injection molding or with NSF/ASTM standards is .
  • Ability to identify and report nonconforming material.
  • Understanding of traceability for product, material, and calibration records.
  • Strong math skills and unit conversions; excellent cognitive, verbal, and written communication abilities.
