Position Summary

The Project Engineer will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and overseeing facility-related projects, including expansions, layout changes, and construction activities at Hunter Foundry’s Schaumburg location. (Note: We are moving to Huntley, IL.) The ideal candidate will have a strong civil engineering foundation and hands-on experience working with construction firms or industrial projects. This role requires close collaboration with internal departments, contractors, and management to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, design review, and coordination for facility projects and site improvements.
  • Work with architects, contractors, and internal teams to ensure compliance with civil, structural, and site requirements.
  • Oversee construction and installation progress, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Support equipment layout, utility coordination, and infrastructure readiness for operations.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, budgets, and reports for management review.
  • Identify and resolve technical or logistical issues throughout project phases.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Participate in vendor and contractor selection and management.
  • Support commissioning and validation of new or upgraded facility systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. (Mechanical Engineering degree also considered.)
  • 3+ years of experience in construction, facility development, or project engineering (industrial or manufacturing experience ).
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, site layouts, utilities, and permitting processes.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders effectively.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in foundry, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments is a plus.
