POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing all aspects of OSI’s manufacturing operations. This individual will be responsible for strategic planning, production management, process optimization, and team development, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance while achieving efficiency, cost control, and delivery goals.

This role requires a hands-on leader with deep manufacturing experience, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and a passion for driving results through people, process, and purpose.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Management

  • Oversee all day-to-day manufacturing operations, including production scheduling, capacity planning, workflow optimization, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance across all production activities.
  • Monitor, measure, and manage production KPIs such as throughput, cycle time, scrap rates, yield, downtime, and labor utilization.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of products through proactive coordination with Sales, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and environmental regulations in accordance with OSI and OSHA standards.

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Lead initiatives focused on cost reduction, process improvement, and productivity gains without compromising quality or safety.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Product Development teams to support new product introduction, manufacturability analysis, and prototype production.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize systems, equipment, and workflows through automation, technology, and data-driven decision-making.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop production supervisors, leads, and team members, building a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Implement and manage a matrix development plan for all production employees, ensuring clear progression paths and skill advancement.
  • Partner with HR to recruit, train, and retain top talent, ensuring each team member understands their role in achieving organizational success.
  • Foster a culture that prioritizes safety, performance, and professional growth, ensuring alignment with OSI’s mission and core values.

Strategic & Financial Oversight

  • Manage and monitor departmental budgets, including labor, materials, maintenance, and capital expenditures.
  • Provide regular operational and performance reports to executive leadership with data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in forecasting and capacity planning to align production capabilities with customer demand and company growth objectives.

Working Conditions

The Manufacturing Operations Manager will operate within a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment that combines both office and shop-floor responsibilities. This role requires regular presence on the production floor to monitor operations, support team leaders, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Work is performed in a combination of manufacturing and office settings. The production area may expose the employee to noise, moving mechanical parts, vibration, airborne particles, heat, and occasional outdoor conditions associated with oilfield equipment manufacturing.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    Physical Requirements

    The position may require standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, or lifting materials up to 40 lbs during inspections or troubleshooting. Personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear is required in designated areas.

    Experience Required

    • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or plant operations management, preferably within oilfield services, machining, fabrication, or metalworking industries.
    • Proven track record of leading production teams and improving operational performance through strategic leadership and hands-on involvement.
    • Strong knowledge of manufacturing principles, process improvement, and quality assurance systems (ISO 9001 ).
    • Experience with ERP systems and production planning/scheduling software.
    • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S practices; certification a plus.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed, results-oriented decisions.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative and proactive approach.
    • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational execution.
