Title: Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing Startup (Semiconductor/Wafer Industry )
Location: Hemlock, MI Onsite
Employment Type: Full-Time
Overview:
Our client is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in manufacturing startup environments. This role will focus on developing, installing, and optimizing production equipment and systems to support the launch and scaling of advanced manufacturing operations. Candidates with a background in the semiconductor, wafer fabrication, or high-tech manufacturing industries are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical engineering efforts during the design, build, and commissioning phases of new production lines and facilities.
- Support the installation, alignment, and startup of precision manufacturing and automation equipment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with process, electrical, and controls engineers to ensure seamless equipment integration and operational readiness.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and process-related issues during equipment qualification and early production ramp.
- Develop and maintain mechanical design documentation, layout drawings, and specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, performance, and throughput.
- Support procurement and vendor qualification for mechanical components, tooling, and systems.
- Ensure all work aligns with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required; Master’s .
- 3–8 years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, ideally in a startup or high-growth production environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, automation, and precision equipment used in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing.
- Proven experience supporting factory installations, equipment startups, and production readiness.
- Working knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on, and dynamic work environment.
Experience:
- Semiconductor, wafer fabrication, or cleanroom equipment experience.
- Familiarity with vacuum systems, robotics, and/or process chambers.
- Exposure to factory automation and tool integration.
