Babbitting Service Inc (BSI), located in South Elgin, IL is seeking to fill seeking a detail-oriented parts Inspector to join our Quality team at either the Apprentice (Beginner) level or Level 1 in the Inspection department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of machined parts to ensure compliance with drawings (blueprints) and standards in specifications.
Inspectors take instruction from Leads or Managers and perform detailed dimensional and visual inspections with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators & gages. Inspectors will be inspecting finished parts, in process parts at machine, or incoming parts according to defined criteria. Candidates with prior experience working in a machine shop environment will have a strong advantage.
As a dimensional inspector, you'll need sharp analytical skills to meticulously examine parts against specifications. Clearly and concisely communicating your inspection findings, both verbally and in written reports.

Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years' work experience in manufacturing and/or machining industry (will substitute 2 years education in metrology for work experience)
- Use measuring instruments including but not limited to inside/outside micrometers, calipers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, thread gages, depth gages, hardness tester and surface finish tester will be required.
- Knowledge of these instruments is important and willing to train for more hands-on use.
- Requires the ability to communicate findings effectively both verbally and written with others in peer group and in management.
- Familiar with MS Office specifically Outlook, Word, Excel
- Able to read and/or interpret detailed blueprints (drawings) is a plus and willing to train, experience with GD&T is a plus
- Fill out report forms on inspection findings and recommend & corrective actions, as necessary.
