A Manufacturing Engineering Technologist plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of equipment and processes. This position blends the hands-on responsibilities of a maintenance technician with the analytical and quality-focused duties of an inspector. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong desire to build a solid foundation in mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety standards. They will work closely with engineers to implement and test designs, troubleshoot complex issues, and maintain detailed records of all activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance Technician Duties
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) on all production equipment and machinery to minimize downtime and prevent breakdowns.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, including motors, pumps, valves, and control panels.
- Calibrate and adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy, following engineering specifications.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations (e.g., Lockout/Tagout procedures). Ensure all work complies with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OSHA, and internal safety standards.
Inspector Duties
- Conduct thorough inspections of all incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Utilize precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Document inspection results and maintain comprehensive records of all quality control activities.
- Identify and report non-conforming materials or products, collaborating with engineers to determine the root cause of defects and implement corrective actions.
- Perform final product audits to ensure compliance with all design and performance requirements before shipment.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician, engineering technician, or a similar role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with a solid understanding of industrial machinery and control systems.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments and a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills for documenting work and collaborating with other team members.
- A relevant technical degree or certification is .
- Basic proficiency in MS Office
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is a plus
