Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing manufacturing processes, enhancing product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within our facility. This position requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, along with hands-on experience in various manufacturing technologies.
Duties
- Coordinate the launch of new/revised products including establishing production process, sequence of operations, routings, work instructions, equipment and tooling required.
- Manage and drive the production of quality products that meets customer’ specifications in a cost-effective manner.
- Responsible for leading and driving activities to achieve improvements in the operations of the plant, that lead to positive performance and financial impacts.
- Effectively manage multiple projects, tasks, and priorities in an environment of rapid product development. Ensure that team resources are allocated properly so that projects are delivered on time and to expected engineering standards.
- Design, develop and test and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended fabrication methods. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
- Confer with management, engineering, manufacturing, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Apply statistical methods and perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
- Confer with design engineering, production and other staff concerning product design for manufacturability and required tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results.
- Develop or Modify existing Standard Operating Procedures for Estimating, ME Team, and programmers.
- Champion and prioritize the work order release process and other company procedures as needed.
- Prioritize RFQ completion based off communication with Business Development & Application/Design Team
- Act as necessary as a Manufacturing Engineer or Estimator when the need arises.
- Conduct 1-on-1/coaching sessions with subordinates to develop actions needed to improve their skills and contribute to their personal and professional development.
- Develop an operational budget for the team, including Capex recommendations for improved efficiency, production and operational excellence.
- Support Lean Projects, and Kaizen Events as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills
- Requires working knowledge of CNC Machining, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Welding, chemical surface treatments, assembly, and tooling design.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and operating systems.
- Requires experience with AutoCAD, ProE, Virtual Gibbs, 3D modeling, Mastercam, FeatureCAM or similar programs.
- Proficient skill level in MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
- Ability to develop and implement training programs for current and new department staff members.
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience of Continuous Improvement Practices
- Strong presentation skills to staff, corporate, vendors and customers.
- Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with company standards, practices, policies, procedures, including disciplinary issues, regulations and/or labor law.
- Ability to work well with others and in a team environment, along with the ability to organize and prioritize work.
