Manufacturing Engineering Manager


Location: Fairfield, NJ
Direct Hire | Salary: $130,000 – $140,000 (DOE)

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Fairfield, NJ. This leadership role oversees engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication operations, with a focus on team leadership, CNC programming, and hands-on design support.

 

Must-Have Qualifications

Proven experience managing both manufacturing and fabrication operations — not just engineering.
Hands-on experience managing CNC programmers and their workflows.
Ability to support the design team using SolidWorks when needed.
Demonstrated experience managing people, including resolving team conflict effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as part of the management team to drive strategic direction.
  • Oversee engineering and fabrication projects, personnel, and department procedures.
  • Lead CNC programming engineers and ensure project alignment with production needs.
  • Support SolidWorks design efforts as needed by the team.
  • Develop department goals, performance metrics, and long-term plans.
  • Ensure accurate management of BOMs, manufacturing drawings, and ECOs in the ERP system.
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget, improving efficiency via job reviews and CIP efforts.
  • Ensure engineering efforts meet and exceed customer requirements.
  • Foster innovation while maintaining strict adherence to QMS standards.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and support to staff.
  • Actively participate in hiring, team evaluations, and conflict resolution.
  • Uphold 5S, safety, and GMP practices throughout the department.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • BSME + 5+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years in a leadership role,
    — OR —
  • 10+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years in management, in lieu of a degree.

Required Skills:

  • ✅ Experience managing manufacturing and fabrication operations.
  • ✅ Strong background managing CNC programming teams.
  • ✅ Proficient in SolidWorks and willing to assist with design work.
  • ✅ Track record of managing teams and resolving interpersonal or technical conflicts.
  • Effective project management and multi-tasking across complex, concurrent initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker with innovation and roadmap planning capabilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and CAD tools.
