Senior CAD/CAM Programmer - Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing
Location:
Anaheim or Walnut, CA
On-site | Full-Time
Overview
We are seeking an exceptional CAD/CAM Programmer with deep expertise in SolidWorks and Mastercam to support elite CNC manufacturing operations producing high-precision Aerospace and Defense components. This role supports critical programs for Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin, where accuracy, repeatability, and process discipline are non-negotiable.
The ideal candidate thrives in a high-stakes, zero-defect environment, programming complex parts machined on large-scale CNC gantry machines with extremely tight tolerances and advanced materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, program, and optimize complex CNC machining operations using Mastercam for large-format gantry machines (3-, 4-, and 5-axis).
- Create and modify 3D models and manufacturing data in SolidWorks, ensuring full alignment with engineering intent.
- Translate Aerospace & Defense engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications into robust, efficient CNC programs.
- Program for high-precision, tight-tolerance components, often ±0.0005" or tighter.
- Optimize toolpaths for accuracy, surface finish, tool life, and cycle time while maintaining strict quality requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and CNC Machinists to ensure flawless execution.
- Support first-article development, prove-outs, and production ramp-ups.
- Apply best practices for fixture design, work holding, probing strategies, and in-process inspection.
- Ensure all programming meets AS9100, customer-specific, and internal quality standards.
- Troubleshoot machining challenges and continuously improve processes.
- Maintain organized documentation for programs, setups, and revisions.
Required Qualifications
- \n7+ years of CAD/CAM programming experience in Aerospace or Defense manufacturing.
- Expert-level proficiency in Mastercam (multi-axis, complex surfacing).
- Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks for part modeling and design interpretation.
- Extensive experience programming large CNC gantry machines.
- Proven success machining tight-tolerance, high-precision aerospace components.
- Deep understanding of GD&T, aerospace drawings, and inspection requirements.
- Experience with exotic and aerospace-grade materials (e.g., aluminum alloys, titanium, Invar, composites).
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and advanced machining strategies.
- Ability to work independently in a high-accountability, mission-critical environment.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting programs for Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, or similar OEMs.
- Familiarity with probing systems, SPC, and CMM workflows.
- Experience with large, complex structural aerospace parts.
- Knowledge of post-processor customization and CNC control optimization.
- Background in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge Aerospace & Defense programs.
- A high-performance manufacturing environment with advanced CNC technology.
- Competitive compensation based on experience and expertise.
- Long-term stability supporting major defense and aerospace platforms.
- A culture that values precision, craftsmanship, and engineering excellence.
