Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Planner / Work Instructions Planner to support aerospace manufacturing operations in Palmdale, CA. This role is responsible for analyzing engineering drawings, models, specifications, and manufacturing requirements to develop comprehensive work instructions and planning documentation supporting aircraft production and assembly activities.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience creating manufacturing work instructions related to aircraft systems, structures, wiring, composites, maintenance, or production processes within aerospace or advanced manufacturing environments. This position works closely with engineering, production, tooling, planning, and manufacturing teams to ensure production workflows, fabrication sequences, and documentation align with engineering and operational requirements.
This is a highly collaborative and detail-oriented role supporting complex aerospace manufacturing programs in a fast-paced production environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions and planning documentation for aerospace production activities
• Analyze engineering drawings, models, specifications, and technical documentation to define manufacturing sequences and processes
• Support planning activities related to aircraft systems, airframe structures, wiring, composites, maintenance, coatings, or assembly operations
• Collaborate with engineering, tooling, production, and manufacturing teams to ensure planning accuracy and process efficiency
• Interpret engineering requirements and provide manufacturing planning guidance to cross-functional teams
• Support troubleshooting and corrective actions related to planning, tooling, or manufacturing process issues
• Maintain compliance with manufacturing standards, policies, and production requirements
• Utilize SAP, MS Office, CAPP/SFM, Teamcenter, Solumina/iBASEt, 3DX, or similar manufacturing systems
• Support coordination between Engineering, Tool Design, Production, and Manufacturing organizations
• Review and manage EBOM, MBOM, and OBOM structures and related documentation
Required Experience / Skills
• Minimum 5 years of experience creating manufacturing work instructions or supporting manufacturing/engineering documentation development
• Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing, aircraft production, defense, automotive, or advanced manufacturing environments
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical references
• Strong instructional writing and technical documentation experience
• Knowledge of fabrication, tooling, manufacturing, inspection methods, and production processes related to aerospace systems or assemblies
• Experience using SAP, MS Office, CAPP/SFM, Teamcenter, Solumina/iBASEt, 3DX, or similar manufacturing systems
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to support production environments and resolve manufacturing planning issues
• Active Secret Clearance required
Nice-to-Haves
• Experience with PLM systems such as Teamcenter, Windchill, or SAP PLM
• Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools including CATIA, SolidWorks, or Autodesk Inventor
• Understanding of Engineering BOM (EBOM), Manufacturing BOM (MBOM), and Order BOM (OBOM) structures
• Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience
• Experience supporting aircraft structures, systems, composites, wiring, or maintenance planning activities
• Experience collaborating with procurement, tooling, and manufacturing engineering teams
Education
• Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field
• Equivalent aerospace manufacturing or planning experience will also be considered
Pay & Benefits Summary
• Pay rate: Up to $60/hr
