Essential Functions
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods
- Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
- Meets with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
- Consult with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
- Review manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes with management, engineering, and other staff
- Statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements that includes capability studies
- Work with cross-functional team to support mfg, QC, PC and maintenance teams
- Machine set-up and validation, including mold changes, material changes, and machine condition adjustments.
- Support auxiliary equipment set-up, such as off-load robot, dryer, mixer, etc.
- Evaluate and recommend new technology or ideas for production improvement (kaizen).
- Qualify new products by performing machine capability and creating process sheets.
- Work with cross functional team to improve processes, increase efficiency and utilization, and reduce scrap and downtime.
- Support Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Die Maintenance departments with troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Obtain vendor quotes for new molds, new machinery, or equipment modifications and installation.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area according to 5S.
- Train and support machine operators as needed.
Job Dimensions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities or KSAs)
- Excellent computer skills with use of Microsoft office applications
- Basic problem-solving skills that develop into advanced skills
- Must have people leadership skills
- Ability to analyze manufacturing process for improvements in quality, efficiency and cost reduction
- 5+ years of experience in injection molding, including machine set-up and troubleshooting, preferably Sumitomo or JSW
- 3+ years of experience with automated assembly equipment
- Strong knowledge of plastics materials, molding processes, and mold/tooling operation.
- PLC/CAD/Solidworks/Microsoft Office experience
