£35,000 - £42,500 per annum (Fixed-Term Contract) or

£200 - £250 per day (Ltd Company Contractor - Outside IR35) Shift Pattern / Working Hours



Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:35

Friday: 08:00 - 15:10 Must hold active UK Security Clearance

 

An established engineering organisation operating within the defence manufacturing sector is seeking immediately available Manufacturing Engineers to support a six-month programme.

 

The role focuses on the introduction, industrialisation, and continuous improvement of vehicle-related protection systems used primarily on military platforms.

Working within a highly regulated and technically demanding environment, you will ensure products are manufacturable, repeatable, cost-effective, and compliant with defence standards.

 

This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to programmes delivering critical protection solutions, while developing your expertise within an advanced manufacturing setting.

 

Both fixed-term and day-rate engagement options are available.

 

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Readiness & Product Introduction



Act as the manufacturing engineering interface for vehicle protection products

Lead manufacturing readiness and industrialisation activities

Introduce new products into production using design for manufacture principles

Support prototyping, initial production runs, tooling, and equipment implementation Process Development & Continuous Improvement



Develop, optimise, and standardise manufacturing processes

Drive improvements in cost, flow, quality, and repeatability

Support production of composite, press-moulded, and machined components

Apply Lean manufacturing principles to improve operational performance Technical Problem Solving & Collaboration



Resolve technical and process-related issues within production

Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Ishikawa, 8D)

Work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Programme teams

Develop and maintain clear manufacturing documentation The Person



Proven experience operating as a Manufacturing Engineer within production environments

Strong understanding and practical application of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles

Experience supporting industrialisation of engineered products within vehicle, defence, aerospace, or comparable sectors

Confident using structured problem-solving tools and methodologies

Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, engineering-led environment

Clear communication skills and a collaborative working approach
