Position Overview
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer with strong experience in CAD and nesting software to support and optimize our production processes. This role will focus heavily on laser and bending programming, nesting efficiency, and process improvement.
You will work directly with operations, machines, and production to improve throughput, reduce waste, and ensure parts are produced accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify part models using CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Generate and optimize nests using software such as Amada Nesting Software
- Program laser cutting machines (CO2 / fiber)
- Improve cutting efficiency (lead-ins, sequencing, chain cutting, etc.)
- Develop and maintain job packets, prints, and operator documentation
- Support press brake operations with flat patterns and bend deductions
- Work closely with operators to troubleshoot production issues
- Reduce scrap and improve material utilization
- Assist with quoting by providing accurate cut times and manufacturing insight
- Continuously improve workflows and shop efficiency
Qualifications
- 2+ years in sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing engineering
- Strong experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
- Experience with nesting/CAM software
- Understanding of laser cutting, press brake operations, welding, and fixturing
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Knowledge of sheet metal processes (bending, tolerances, grain direction, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
(Nice to Have)
- Experience with lasers or press brakes
- Familiarity with laser cutting
- Understanding of shop workflow and production scheduling
- Experience in a small shop environment (wearing multiple hats)
