We're looking for a reliable, analytical, hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to oversee design and production of aluminum castings.

Join BPI as a Manufacturing Engineer and play a pivotal role in optimizing our production processes for efficiency, quality, and innovation. In this position, you'll oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to ensure product functionality while driving cost savings. You'll collaborate on equipment design, automate systems, and troubleshoot issues to keep our operations running smoothly. Key Responsibilities

  • Apply working knowledge of foundry processes, cast mold design, CNC machining, and machine tool terminology to develop and refine manufacturing workflows.
  • Manage projects to achieve timelines, cost targets, productivity goals, quality standards, and safety objectives.
  • Design and develop tooling for casting production to meet customer specifications.
  • Integrate and program automation systems (including PLC) with support from internal and external resources.
  • Present designs to operations teams, collaborate with vendors to build tools, and provide ongoing support in production.
  • Partner with production management, supervision, quality assurance, and maintenance to troubleshoot and prevent issues with products, processes, equipment, and tooling.
  • Optimize production planning and execution in collaboration with operations management.
  • Support existing products and new product introductions through process control documentation.
  • Analyze productivity and quality data to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and root causes of defects.
  • Drive cost reductions by re-engineering processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Maintain safe and reliable manufacturing systems while enhancing production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeover times.
  • Contribute to streamlining production processes with a high degree of creativity and initiative.
  • Stay current on emerging manufacturing technologies, automation, and equipment to reduce costs and manual labor.
  • Assist in plant layout planning, facility rearrangements, and designing lean manufacturing cells for optimal use of space, equipment, materials, and personnel.
  • Support customer visits, teleconferences, trade shows, and site visits; research new technologies; and perform other duties as required.

SKILLS

MS Office applications, ERP, expert Solid Work's skills, technical capacity, organizational skills, strong documentation skills, decision making, initiative, project management, problem solving/analysis, and excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is both encouraged and expected.
  • Candidate must by very organized and effective with time management, especially with key timeline events.
  • Collaborative skills are necessary to develop positive working relationships with key stake holders.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required with 5-7 years in a manufacturing field.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Walking, Standing, sitting, listening and talking on a wide variety and continual basis. Movement generally throughout the manufacturing areas required. Ability to travel between BPI’s two local plants on a regular basics.
