Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer leads Manufacturing Engineering for the assigned High-Performance Work Team and will focus on execution and implementation of best machining practices, including process troubleshooting and improvement, new product introduction, and advancements in machining technologies. Executes strategic vision related to assigned functional responsibilities to include: cost out / overhead optimization, CONC/DPPM reduction, leads lean continuous improvement activities related to productivity, and waste reduction improvements. Interface as necessary with internal Customers, Supply Chain, Engineering, ELSS and other disciplines to assure safety, quality, and cost control.
Develop, prepare, and maintain complete cost-efficient manufacturing processes for product hardware of above average complexity. Design and implement routers, operational process sketches, fixturing and gages for safe and efficient manufacturing, assembly, inspection and testing of aerospace hardware. Determine all tooling, gauging, programing, and equipment requirements.
Optimize existing machine utilization through upgraded and improved tooling, programming, and first pass yield. Generate, modify, and maintain CNC programs for multi-axis Lathes, Machining Centers, Broaching, Hobbing, and Grinders. Develop and implement acceptance criteria, procedure/work instructions, setup instructions, quality management alerts regarding machine capabilities and setups and training materials in accordance with internal/external requirements.
Provide support to floor issues with respect to the assigned Value Stream. Assist Quality with root cause and corrective actions to resolve issues involving discrepant product or material and support efforts to create more consistent quality manufacturing Promote culture of Continuous Improvement and understand lean manufacturing techniques as they apply to eliminate waste and deliver products to customer's expectations. Drive short-term and long-term improvements to achieve goals outlined on Value Stream Maps.
Participate in kaizen events, i.e., set-up reduction, Standard Work, 5S, and problem-solving activities. Participate in the procurement and start-up of new capital equipment (including payback and net present value analysis) for acquisition of equipment to support emerging and existing technologies as required. Interact with Design Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure design for manufacturability of new products.
Participates in design review process or quoting process of new orders and acts as a liaison for products from inception through shipment to customer. Support the planning, procurement, and maintenance of specialized tooling for all equipment to ensure constant availability to manufacturing as well as continuously improve the manufacturing process through upgrades and improvements to current tooling supply and sourcing. Maintenance of production routings and time standards related to changes in process or equipment Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology from an accredited institution Minimum one (1) year engineering experience in a machining environment (i.e.
CNC machining, programming, drawing, and troubleshooting) This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.

Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Experience with 2D/3D CAD software Proficient in the maintenance and creation of CNC programs for multi-axis machinery.
Experience on maintenance, sourcing and improvement of equipment including hobbing, shaping, broaching, grinding, lathe, milling machinery. Experience running and troubleshooting multi-axis machinery Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Proficient in developing operation sketches to transform raw material into final dimension part.
Understanding of quality requirements across processes within an aerospace tolerance environment Ability to manage multiple projects/activities. 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment Experience in a union manufacturing environment Experience in the maintenance and upgrading of machine tooling related to the above CNC machinery.
