The Manufacturing Automation Engineer will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing operations with equipment and process expertise, in a continuous improvement environment. This role will focus on increasing efficiency, reducing waste, improving product quality, and ensuring operational reliability through advanced automation, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies. Key manufacturing areas include printing, cutting, assembly, packaging, material handling, plastic injection molding, and paper processing. The Manufacturing Automation Engineer will manage projects from concept to execution, collaborating closely with internal teams, external integrators, and other Cartamundi sites to deliver impactful solutions that support long term growth.
What you’ll do as a Manufacturing Automation Engineer:
- Support the manufacturing operation by managing planned and unplanned process and equipment issues and concerns through final resolution
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and equipment, identifying areas for improvement and make recommendations for change to increase optimization, cost savings and quality
- Implement changes to processes and equipment according to approved plans, supporting and managing manufacturing continuous improvement activities and manufacturing modifications
- Develop and implement detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflows for optimal efficiency, ensuring manufacturing processes and equipment comply with safety standards and legal regulations
- Support capital projects from conception through implementation including new equipment introduction
- Support evaluation of new materials, engineering trials, processes and other initiatives that require engineering review
- Develop and publish documentation as required to support manufacturing equipment and processes
- Provide user training across all functions on new equipment introductions and modifications
- Support machine set up and repairs as needed by providing engineering expertise as needed
- Create, update, and deliver reports as required
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Automation Engineer with:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably manufacturing or mechanical engineering
- 3-5 years’ experience working as a manufacturing engineer in a batch, medium to high volume manufacturing environment
- Experience working in a team setting with minimal supervisor
- Proven problem-solving skills in design, improvement, or maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and automation equipment
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Expertise in MS Office and Project Management software
- Expertise in CAD software and 3D modeling
- Expertise in machine control software and hardware

Physical requirements and working conditions:
Our manufacturing Plant is comprised of enclosed office and manufacturing space. This position requires the ability to:
- Move throughout the entire facility to attend to various issues
- Work effectively in teams across functional groups with strong communication skills and the ability to lead
- Perform sedentary work on various computer systems
- This Manufacturing Engineer position is located on-site in our Dallas facility
