Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

An RFID solutions company, focused on animal identification and monitoring, is on the hunt for a Manufacturing Engineer to serve as a pivotal connection point within its organization. This role acts as a bridge, ensuring seamless collaboration between their engineering team (developing cutting-edge microchips and tracking devices), their efficient production floor, and their customer service department.

You'll play a critical role in bringing engineered products to life, from managing detailed documentation for complex electronic assemblies to troubleshooting in-field issues for devices used with research animals and pets. The company is looking for someone who possesses a solid foundational understanding across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines, without needing to be an expert in any single area.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with Engineering on new products, focusing on manufacturability and quality for RFID and microchip technologies.
  • Manage the ECN process and revision controls from Engineering to Production.
  • Create and maintain high-quality production work instructions for complex electronic assemblies.
  • Lead root cause investigations for quality issues and RMAs.
  • Identify bottlenecks and problematic assemblies with the Production team.
  • Maintain BOMs and approve alternate parts, supporting product changes.
  • Assist Customer Service in diagnosing and resolving field issues related to animal tracking and data collection devices.

What you'll bring:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in manufacturing or quality engineering, ideally with small electronic devices or RFID products.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software principles – you're a true generalist!
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes (assembly, testing, calibration).
  • Proficiency in managing build assemblies and BOMs within an ERP system.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • A structured approach and fresh insights from previous roles.

Bonus points if you're:

  • A proactive self-starter who gets tasks done with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable guiding customers through basic troubleshooting over the phone for technical devices.
  • Experienced with CNC or other machinery operation.
