Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager of DevOps Engineering to lead our internal automation and DevOps initiatives. This role is pivotal in driving the development and delivery of scalable automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency across the organization. You will lead a cross-functional team of engineers and support staff, working closely with internal teams to develop and maintain automation efforts, and deliver impactful solutions for a Managed Services Provider (MSP) focused on financial services and healthcare verticals.

You will lead a team of 5+ engineers specializing in infrastructure automation, primarily leveraging Windows PowerShell, Python, Typescript and deep integrations with Microsoft Office 365, Graph API, and the Azure ecosystem. Your focus will be on delivering scalable automation tools that enhance operational efficiency for internal teams. Must be able to work EST hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Delivery Oversight

  • Lead and mentor a team of 5+ engineers and support staff focused on infrastructure and workflow automation.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to define project scope, priorities, and technical direction.
  • Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of automation projects using Agile methodologies and continuous improvement practices.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the automation team.
  • Coordinate design and implementation, understand operational pain points, and develop scalable automation workflows.
  • Communicate product vision, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.

Technical Guidance

  • Write detailed development specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria to coordinate development tasks with the team.
  • Run Agile sprints for the development team.
  • Contribute to design documentation and architectural discussions.
  • Guide technical decisions involving PowerShell scripting, Microsoft Graph API, Office 365, Azure, and RESTful integrations.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 5+ years in people management, with at least 2 years leading technical or automation-focused teams.
  • Proven experience in infrastructure automation and internal tooling within a technology-driven organization.
  • Experience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or enterprise IT environment .

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and Office 365 / Azure development ecosystems.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, particularly Microsoft Graph API.
  • Comfortable working closely with engineering teams on system architecture and automation workflows.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with a user-centric approach to automation and problem-solving.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience automating IT processes and workflows in a highly regulated environment (e.g., financial services).
  • Exposure to ITSM platforms (ServiceNow), ticketing systems, or RPA tools.
  • Background in systems administration or scripting a strong plus.
