What You’ll Be Doing:
We're hiring a Manager of Data & Program Evaluation to lead EMPath's internal evaluation and data infrastructure. Reporting to the Vice President of Research & Innovation and supervising the R&E Associate, you'll ensure our data systems are well-maintained and well-used, translate program data into insights staff can act on, and build the reproducible reporting structures that make that work sustainable over time.
This is a hands-on technical and deeply collaborative role. The heart of the work is partnering with program and administrative teams (such as Advancement and Advocacy) across the organization — helping staff understand and use data to improve their programs, facilitating quarterly data review sessions, co-developing metrics, and building the kind of ongoing relationships that are central to our focus on continuous learning and improvement. You'll also manage our participant data system (Bonterra/Apricot), oversee our annual participant survey, and develop code-based approaches to facilitate our analysis and reporting.
Beyond our internal programs, you'll collaborate with R&E leadership to provide data and evaluation technical assistance to members of our global Exchange network.
EMPath offers a four-day work week. This role is hybrid: two days in our Congress Street office in Boston's Seaport district, two days remote. Ideal start date June 1.
What You Bring to the Role:
Required:
- 3–5 years of experience in program evaluation, applied data analysis, or a closely related role
- Proficiency in R () or Python — you'll own and maintain our analytics codebase, including parameterized R Markdown/Quarto reports and reproducible analysis scripts
- Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of tools, including Excel (as well as Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Experience with a participant or constituent data management system (Bonterra/Apricot, ETO, Salesforce, or similar)
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills and a solid grounding in evaluation design and statistical concepts
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines
- Ability to communicate data findings clearly to non-technical audiences, in writing and in person
- At least 1–2 years of supervisory, team leadership, or project ownership experience
- A bachelor's degree in a related field; master's
- Commitment to data equity and to EMPath's mission

- Experience with project management tools, such as Asana
- Familiarity with BI or dashboard platforms (R Shiny, Tableau, Power BI)
- Background in nonprofit, human services, or economic mobility settings
- Experience supporting a partner network with data capacity building
- Proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole
- Experience with GitHub or version control
