Job Title: Manager, Data Engineering
Location-Type: Remote (U.S. – preference for Lincoln/Omaha area; states excluded are CA / NY / PA / MN)
Start Date Is: 3/1
Duration: Permanent
Compensation Range: $160,000–$180,000 base salary bonus

Job Description:
The Manager, Data Engineering will lead and unify data engineering, analytics, and data science teams while building and scaling a modern GCP-based data ecosystem.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a combined team of data engineers, data scientists, and analytics professionals

• Build and scale a GCP data platform using BigQuery as the Lakehouse

• Oversee implementation of Looker as the semantic and visualization layer

• Establish data governance, best practices, and scalable architecture

• Partner with leadership and stakeholders to align data strategy with business goals

• Coach, mentor, and develop team members while managing strong personalities

Requirements:

• Must-Haves:

  • 3 years of people management experience

  • Experience managing teams of 8–10 professionals

  • 6–10 years of total experience progressing from analyst/engineer to manager

  • Strong technical background in GCP, BigQuery, and Looker

  • Proven ability to stand up and scale data platforms

  • Confident leader able to navigate strong personalities

  • Demonstrated longevity (2 years per role )

• Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience consolidating multiple data functions under one team

  • Prior ownership of data governance frameworks

  • Background working in high-growth or transformation environments
