Job Title: Manager, Data Engineering & Platform Services

Role Overview

We are seeking a Manager of Data Engineering to lead a global team of engineers and analysts supporting enterprise data platforms across multiple technologies and environments. This role is responsible for the design, reliability, and continuous evolution of data systems that power critical business operations.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, deep expertise in database technologies, and a track record of managing modern data platforms in complex, distributed environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed data engineering team across multiple geographic regions
• Oversee the design, optimization, and maintenance of relational and non-relational database systems
• Manage large-scale data workflows including ingestion, transformation, and movement across systems
• Ensure data architectures support scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability
• Guide strategies for data modeling, transformation, and consistency across platforms
• Drive best practices in query performance, indexing, schema design, monitoring, and observability
• Manage data lifecycle processes across development, testing, and production environments
• Ensure platforms meet standards for availability, performance, security, and recoverability
• Partner with application and platform teams to optimize data access patterns and system performance
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to support automation, CI/CD, and environment provisioning
• Coordinate with external partners and distributed teams to ensure consistent delivery and quality
• Lead incident response for data-related issues, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement
• Build a culture of ownership, quality, documentation, and continuous learning
• Provide coaching, performance management, and career development for team members

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, or platform engineering roles
• 3+ years of experience leading distributed technical teams
• Strong hands-on experience with a mix of relational and NoSQL database technologies
• Deep understanding of data modeling, schema design, and performance optimization
• Experience designing and managing data transformation pipelines across systems
• Experience managing data changes and releases across multiple environments
• Strong understanding of production operations including monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting
• Experience supporting high-throughput or data-intensive systems is
• Familiarity with cloud-based environments and modern data tooling
• Exposure to automation, CI/CD practices, and infrastructure collaboration
• Experience with AI-assisted development or data tooling is a plus
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
