Who We Are Looking For
Position: Manager – Cloud Infrastructure
We are seeking an experienced Manager - Cloud Infrastructure to lead the team responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and operational support of our cloud infrastructure. In this leadership role, you will guide a group of cloud and DevOps engineers as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in delivering next- technology solutions that ensure reliable access to our SaaS web applications. You will balance hands-on technical depth with people leadership and strategic thinking—driving best practices in design, implementation, security, performance, and cost efficiency while growing the engineers on your team.
This role requires a balance of cloud infrastructure expertise, hands-on Azure experience, and the leadership ability to manage people, vendors, priorities, and budgets. This role requires 75% as a hands-on contributor and 25% team management.
What You Will Be Doing
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of cloud and DevOps engineers, managing day-to-day priorities, performance, and professional development
- Manage vendor partnerships and external service providers, and coordinate 2–3 resources within the DevOps and IT Support team
- Research and present innovative cloud, operations, and architecture ideas to accelerate delivery of our solutions
- Lead implementation of DevOps best practices including cloud engineering, infrastructure deployment, and integrated CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineering, and security teams to align infrastructure strategy with business goals
- Own the infrastructure roadmap, capacity planning, and operational budgeting
Strategy & Architecture
- Develop and maintain a cloud strategy aligned with business goals and objectives
- Ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of cloud services on Microsoft Azure
- Establish and enforce cloud best practices, standards, and frameworks built on cloud- technologies
- Evaluate emerging Azure technologies and services to keep our organization at the forefront of innovation
- Provide detailed guidance on Cloud-Infrastructure/Networking concepts and configurations (App Services, Function Apps, APIM, Traffic Manager, VNET, NAT Gateway, Private Endpoints, etc.)
Implementation & Operations
- Oversee infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell, and Azure-specific tools
- Create and maintain a variety of environments from development to production
- Oversee the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines within Azure DevOps
- Administer CI/CD tooling such as Azure Repos/Git, Azure DevOps, Snyk, and SonarCloud
- Implement monitoring solutions to collect metrics and logs and create dashboards that improve observability (AppInsights, Azure Monitor, etc.)
Security & Compliance
- Implement zero-trust security models with least-privilege access, encryption, and threat protection
- Ensure compliance with security and governance policies and guide compliance efforts with industry standards (SOC 2, NIST)
Performance & Cost Optimization
- Optimize cloud performance, availability, and reliability using Microsoft and 3rd-party tools
- Implement cost control mechanisms including reserved instances, savings plans, and auto-scaling
- Drive cloud financial governance (FinOps) through usage analysis and budget management
- Monitor and optimize cloud resource utilization
Support & Documentation
- Provide operational support and Priority 1 escalation, and oversee the on-call rotation
- Troubleshoot web-based SaaS platforms using cloud services
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture and procedures
Who You Are And What You Bring to The Table
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or related engineering, including 2+ years in a leadership or people-management capacity
- 3+ years of recent, hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform and PowerShell
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud networking, security principles, and best practices
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
- Experience implementing monitoring solutions (AppInsights, Azure Monitor, 3rd-party)
- Knowledge of system design for highly available cloud services
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
Qualifications:
- Certifications for Microsoft Azure
- Prior experience managing or mentoring an engineering team
- Experience working with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, App Insights, etc.
