Vast is looking for a
Manager, Battery and Solar Systems , reporting to the
VP of Avionics , to lead the development and optimization of our energy storage and solar power systems. This role is essential for advancing our projects, ensuring efficient, scalable, and sustainable energy solutions for both terrestrial and space applications.
This will be a full-time,
exempt
position located in our
Long Beach
location.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Manage a team of engineers and technicians to develop efficient energy storage systems, focusing on reliability, safety, and performance.
Oversee the integration of solar and battery systems with other power assets, optimizing energy use and reducing operational costs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on sustainable energy initiatives, both on Earth and in space environments.
Develop and implement engineering standards, protocols, and quality assurance processes to optimize system performance and safety.
Conduct technical feasibility studies, simulations, and performance analyses to support project development.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols in all projects.
Provide guidance on new technologies, materials, and processes to enhance system efficiency and longevity.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in battery energy storage, solar power systems, or related fields.
Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing large-scale projects.
Strong understanding of battery technologies, solar PV systems, and power electronics.
Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, PVSyst) and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Strong communication and leadership skills with a focus on team collaboration and project management.
Qualifications:
Experience with space applications, satellite power systems, or extraterrestrial energy solutions.
Knowledge of thermal management, power distribution, and energy optimization for off-grid environments.
Familiarity with certification processes and regulatory compliance for both terrestrial and space energy systems.
Pay Range:
Manager, Battery and Solar Systems: $150,000-$176,400
Senior Manager, Battery and Solar Systems: $170,000-$205,800
