MAINTENANCE WORKER

Wage per Current Labor Contract

Reports to:

Lead Technician, Maintenance Manager, On-Duty Transportation Coordinator, Deputy Director, Executive Director

Work Schedule

• Full-time – Hourly Position – 40/week
• Part-time - Hourly Position - Up to 30 hours/week

Fair Labor Standards Act Status:

• Non-Exempt

Description of Position:

Performs daily routine fluid checks on fleet, cleans buses and custodial duties.

Essential Functions:

• Performs pre-trip vehicle fluid inspections.
• Fuels buses.
• Cleans interior and exterior of all ICTC fleet.
• Empty and tag all fare boxes.
• Parks vehicles according to direction of Maintenance Manager.
• Documents and communicates all fleet damage to Maintenance Manager.
• Tracks and monitors fluid inventories.
• Maintain cleanliness, appearance and sanitation of lobby, restrooms, break room, conference room and employee hall.
• Removal and bagging of trash from restrooms, break room and general work areas.
• Removal of debris from the area surrounding the ICTC physical building.
• Performs general maintenance work such as snow removal and grounds keeping.
• Routinely cleans/maintains all ICTC shelters, signs, benches, facilities, equipment or property.
• Other duties as assigned.

Standards and Qualifications:

Education and Experience

Must have graduated from an accredited high school or equivalent.

Must have valid driver’s license.

Must have clean driving record.

The successful candidate will pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical by an approved medical facility and will successfully complete a driving record check through the Department of State Bureau of Driver and Vehicle Record Lookup.

The successful candidate will also be able to show a satisfactory attendance record.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Knowledge

• Knowledge in custodial and general shop and/or manufacturing environments is helpful and .
• Must be able to identify various vehicle fluids and reservoirs.

Skills

• Ability to deal pleasantly with co-workers and management.
• Ability to communicate orally via two-way radio.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly express thoughts to others and exchange information.

Physical Job Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and/or sit continuously to perform job functions.
• Must be able to physically stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, and climb steps.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions.

Other Job Requirements:

• Subject to random drug testing per ICTC’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy and Over-the-Counter and Prescription Drug Policy.
• Subject to periodic driving record check through the Department of State Bureau of Driver & Vehicle Record Lookup.
• Attend seminars, training and meetings as instructed by the Executive Director.
• Attend employee meetings as required.

Environmental Conditions:

• Variable Work Environments: Work is conducted indoors and out with varying environmental conditions.
• When outdoors, employee will be subjected to weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions. This includes; sunshine, rain, ice, snow or mix.
• Exposure to shaking objects and equipment.
