About the Role:
The Maintenance Worker / Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all physical facilities within the accommodation and food services environment. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff. The role requires proactive identification of potential issues and timely intervention to prevent disruptions to service. The Maintenance Worker / Engineer collaborates closely with management and other departments to prioritize maintenance tasks and support operational goals. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall guest experience by maintaining high standards of facility upkeep and safety compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in maintenance or engineering roles within the accommodation, hospitality, or food service industry.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate maintenance equipment safely.
Qualifications:
- Technical certification or vocational training in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical maintenance.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- First aid and OSHA safety training certifications.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs to minimize downtime and maintain guest satisfaction.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, determining appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Skills:
The required skills enable the Maintenance Worker / Engineer to effectively perform inspections, diagnose issues, and execute repairs on various facility systems, ensuring continuous operation and safety. Proficiency in reading technical documents and schematics supports accurate troubleshooting and maintenance planning. skills such as familiarity with CMMS enhance the ability to track work orders and manage maintenance schedules efficiently.
