About the Role:

The Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) position in Fort Pierce, FL, is critical to ensuring the safe and efficient flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction zones, road maintenance projects, and other temporary traffic control situations. The primary goal of this role is to design, implement, and monitor traffic control plans that minimize disruption while maximizing safety for workers, motorists, and pedestrians. This position requires close collaboration with construction teams, local authorities, and the public to adapt traffic management strategies in real-time as project conditions evolve. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all relevant traffic safety regulations and standards, including the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Ultimately, this role supports the timely completion of infrastructure projects by ensuring that traffic is managed effectively and safely throughout the duration of the work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic knowledge of traffic control principles and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret traffic control plans and signage.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) or Traffic Control Technician.
  • Experience working on road construction or maintenance projects.
  • Familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience operating traffic control equipment and devices.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain traffic control plans in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Set up, inspect, and maintain traffic control devices such as signs, cones, barricades, and signals to guide and protect road users and workers.
  • Monitor traffic flow and safety conditions continuously, making adjustments to traffic control measures as needed to address changing site conditions or emergencies.
  • Coordinate with construction crews, law enforcement, and local agencies to ensure smooth traffic operations and compliance with safety standards.
  • Document and report any incidents, changes, or issues related to traffic maintenance activities to project managers and relevant authorities.
