Job Summary
Perform maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, office facilities, and grounds.
Main Job Duties / Responsibilities
· Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times and participate in the Plant Safety Committee.
· Perform major overhauls, assembly, repairs, and preventative maintenance on all plant machinery and equipment.
· Design and build various accessories required for plant machinery and equipment.
· Test and operate repaired equipment for proper functionality.
· Participate in objective setting, plan development, and performance review of plant performance.
· Initiates, implements, and manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the manufacturing industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
· Set new equipment and/or move equipment and reset as required.
· Report abnormal conditions of equipment plus facilities or grounds issues to the Production Manager.
· Perform minor welding on non-production items.
· Write purchase requisitions, as required.
· Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other mobile equipment (except heavy cranes) for the moving of material, components, and equipment from location to location within the plant.
· Perform general laborer duties as required (i.e. grinding, loading and unloading of trucks).
· Keep working area clean and perform housekeeping duties around the plant as required (i.e. pickup tools, roll-up hoses and cables, sweep).
· Address any office area mechanical or electrical issues as well as any grounds issues.
Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
· Requires working knowledge of machinery and equipment within the facility.
· Requires familiarity with tools and equipment used in the repair of machines and equipment.
· Capable of reading and understanding basic machine and equipment drawings, electrical schematics, and specifications.
· Capable of performing math computations involving decimals and fractions.
· Capable of lifting 50 lbs. up to waist.
· Requires 3 years minimum of job-related work experience.
· Registered electricians license
· Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability required
· Exposure to inside and outside weather conditions.
· Exposure to dirty and greasy work environment.
· Close visual and mental attention required.
· Exposure to normal shop noises of grinding, chipping, high pressure gas burners, and repair operations.
· Heavy physical exertion required.
