The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and comfort of our facilities. This position focuses on routine maintenance, basic repairs, and ensuring systemsincluding electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural componentsoperate efficiently. The role primarily supports two Silver Spring properties, with one to two monthly visits to the West Grove location.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections of building systems, equipment, and grounds

• Complete work orders involving light electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and carpentry tasks

• Support Property Manager in maintaining and following preventive maintenance schedules

• Respond promptly and professionally to emergency maintenance situations

• Assist skilled vendors and contractors with access and coordination as needed

• Monitor and maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and parts

• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, documentation, and service records

• Conduct seasonal facility support tasks (e.g., snow removal, landscaping, heating/cooling prep)

• Ensure all work meets safety standards and building codes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade training a plus

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, facility operations, or a related field

• General handyman skills in basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs

• Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and basic understanding of HVAC operation and controls

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics ()

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills

• Understanding of position scopeknows when to escalate to licensed trades or specialists

• Physically able to lift, bend, climb, and work in varying environmental conditions

• Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle required

Work Environment

• Properties: Two main sites in Silver Spring, MD; monthly visits to a third property in West Grove, PA

• Work Schedule: Full-time with emergency response availability as needed

• Travel: Mileage reimbursed between sites
