Hyperbaric Maintenance Technician II

This job is non-exempt from overtime in accordance with FLSA.

Reports to: Project Engineer

Location: Hybrid, Northern Virginia Area

Schedule: 40 hours per week, variable days including weekends

Job Summary

PCCI, Inc. is leader in cutting-edge, customized hyperbaric and hypobaric systems design and fabrication with 45 years of experience delivering monoplace and multiplace chambers to specialized applications. We are growing fast and seeking a hands-on Hyperbaric Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and repair of our hyperbaric chambers and associated life-support systems. This unique hybrid role requires expertise in both electrical and mechanical systems, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and technical excellence. Our clients often require maintenance jobs to be performed on the weekend to minimize disruption to their clinical operations, therefore the successful candidate will be willing and able to work 40-hour workweeks that will often include Saturdays and / or Sundays, with days off occurring during the week.

Maintenance

· Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hyperbaric chambers, compressors, valves, and control systems.

· Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems (wiring, motors, panels, PLCs, instrumentation)

· Service mechanical systems (pumps, compressors, valves, pneumatics, seals, air dryers, climate control systems).

· Conduct testing and inspections to ensure compliance with PVHO-2, and NFPA standards relevant to human-occupied pressure vessels.

· Support engineering teams on system upgrades and modifications.


Fabrication & Assembly

· Fabricate, assemble and install hyperbaric chamber subsystems and ancillary mechanical equipment.

· Ability to read and interpret schematics or technical drawings to fabricate, assemble and test various mechanical components of an overall system.

· Perform mechanical fitting, drilling, threading, and precision alignment of components.

· Working knowledge of piping systems and fitting for low pressure air and gases.

· Applied understanding of mechanical fasteners, compression fittings, sheet metal fabrication work.

· Assemble, wire, and install electrical components and subsystems for hyperbaric chambers, involving communication systems, electrical systems, chamber climate control systems, compressors etc.

· Expert with standard shop tools used for typical mechanical fabrication, assembly, repair work with ability to effectively and safely use bench tools such as drill press, table grinder, band saw, and hand tools including gas torch.

· Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve electrical and mechanical issues effectively. Experience in troubleshooting electrical systems and diagnosing faults. Use blueprints while troubleshooting to locate and diagnose issues in the electrical system


Testing & Quality Control

· Conduct hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests under supervision to validate system integrity.

· Perform leak testing, tolerance verification, and dimensional inspections.

· Document work performed and maintain fabrication/testing logs in accordance with ISO 9001 Compliance.

Safety and Quality Assurance

· Follow safety procedures for high-pressure systems, confined space work and material handling.

· Inspect systems and subsystems of chambers against technical drawings and user design specifications and other applicable technical documents.

· Uphold compliance with PVHO-2, and NFPA standards relevant to pressure vessels.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company safety protocols.


Teamwork and Collaboration

· Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment to achieve common goals. Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to troubleshoot issues, optimize designs, and improve manufacturing processes.

· Clear and effective communication skills to interact with team members, engineers, and other stakeholders.

· Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues and propose effective solutions.


Required Qualifications


· Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certification .

· Minimum Experience: 3 years in industrial mechanical assembly and repair work for any of the following: Industrial / Commercial HVAC Technicians, Medical Gas Plumber, Boiler Mechanic, Marine Industry Technician, Commercial Diving Technician.

· Ability to lift heavy objects of 50+ lbs

· Understanding of schematics involving general mechanical fabrication, assembly

· Proficiency in use of hand tools, torque tools, calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring equipment.

· Strong understanding of mechanical fastening, sealing, and alignment techniques.

· Ability to travel and perform scheduled work on the weekends.

· U.S. Work Authorization


Skills & Experience:

· Understanding of electromechanical components assembly, control console outfitting and testing.

· Vocational training in HVAC and industrial plumbing is a strong plus.
