Maintenance Technician (HVAC, Plumbing & Appliance Experience) – Temporary Assignment

Location: Tuscaloosa AL 35401

Schedule: 1st Shift M-F Possible OT on weekends

Pay rate: $22

Duties:

1. Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including air handlers, rooftop units, and thermostats
2. Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems – sinks, toilets, pipes, and drains
3. Service and maintain appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and laundry equipment
4. Handle general maintenance tasks, including basic electrical, carpentry, and painting
5. Complete assigned work orders promptly and accurately
6. Follow safety standards and campus maintenance protocols
7. Communicate effectively with facilities staff and campus personnel

Requirements:

1. Solid experience in HVAC maintenance and repair
2. Proficiency with plumbing and appliance servicing
3. HVAC certification (EPA or equivalent) strongly
4. Ability to read work orders, diagrams, and equipment manuals
5. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
6. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
7. Steel-toe boots and appropriate work attire required
8. Must pass a background check and adhere to campus safety rules
