Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Senior Maintenance Mechanic

Core Function

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for executing advanced mechanical and electrical maintenance, including CNC programming, fixture building, and troubleshooting equipment. This hands-on role requires a high level of technical proficiency and initiative, working independently to support production uptime and continuous improvement. While not a supervisory role, this position may provide informal guidance to junior team members as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs across manufacturing equipment.
  • Program and troubleshoot CNC machinery, including 3-axis and 5-axis machines.
  • Build, install, and maintain custom fixtures and jigs for use in production processes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical systems, including motors, sensors, wiring, and controls.
  • Collaborate with engineers and operators to address machine performance issues.
  • Maintain and execute preventive maintenance schedules and documentation.
  • Assist with the implementation of safety protocols and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor the condition of critical systems and suggest improvements or replacements.
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and G-code.
  • May assist in training or mentoring less experienced technicians in technical tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma; and 2-Year Degree from an accredited technical college or trade school. Work experience can be substituted for education.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or maintenance technician role.
  • Proven experience in CNC programming (3- and 5-axis) and machine operation.
  • Experience in the design and construction of production fixtures and tooling.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, and safety standards.

Skills Requirements

  • Expertise in troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
  • Skilled in reading blueprints, technical drawings, wiring schematics, and CNC code.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and CAD software.
  • Forklift operation and machine safety knowledge.
  • Clear and professional communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements

Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as; preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and or operation or machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distance close to the eyes.

Work Conditions

The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change.
