Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machines, equipment, and building systems to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role requires skills across multiple trades, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC, to support both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs. In addition to technical ability, the position calls for reliability, consistency, and pride in workmanship. While maintenance is the primary focus, the technician may occasionally assist with warehouse operations or other company needs, requiring a team-oriented mindset and flexibility.
Key Objectives
- Equipment Reliability – Keep machines and systems in safe, reliable working order.
- Preventive Maintenance – Perform regular inspections and maintenance to reduce breakdowns.
- Safety – Ensure compliance with all company, OSHA, and industry safety standards.
- Operational Support – Provide timely repairs and solutions to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Warehouse Support – Assist the warehouse team during slow periods or when additional help is needed.
Core Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose and repair (whenever possible) mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural issues.
- Perform routine inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and preventive maintenance.
- Repair and maintain building structures, including doors, windows, floors, and roofs.
- Implement light repairs on the vehicle and truck box and body, decals, and signage.
- Fabricate, assemble, or modify parts, fixtures, and wooden or metal structures.
Operational Support
- Inspect, operate, and test equipment to identify issues and ensure functionality.
- Track and manage tools, parts, and supplies.
- Ensure a safe and well-maintained facility through regular cleaning, restocking supplies (tool shop, restrooms, tool cage, etc.), and providing timely response to facility and fleet emergencies.
- Recommend and install energy-efficient or operational improvements.
Teamwork & Communication
- Provide updates to Warehouse & Facilities Manager and project teams on repair status and timelines.
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors to ensure operational continuity.
Position Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary training or trade certification .
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in maintenance or related trade.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Mechanical, electrical, and building systems repair.
- Carpentry, plumbing, welding, or HVAC experience .
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment, including forklifts, and basic vehicle maintenance for fleet vans and box truck
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. regularly, climb ladders, and work in indoor/outdoor environments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime and weekends.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- OSHA 30 or Successful completion of OSHA 30 within 90 days
- First-aid, CPR, AED certifications or completion within the first 90 days.
