Job Summary (Essential Functions): Responsible for maintaining clubhouse facility and equipment. Works and trains with the Facilities Manager on maintenance/engineering duties and projects including refrigeration, gas, electrical, HVAC systems, plumbing, building repairs and capital improvement projects.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies, and Expectations:
- Mechanically inclined with ability to gain all-around knowledge of mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration.
- Working knowledge and or ability to learn carpentry and painting.
- Hands-on capabilities for repairs to locks, plumbing fixtures, electrical outlets, minor carpentry work, etc.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Working knowledge of power tools.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with Facilities Manager to procure parts and items needed for maintenance, completion of work orders and general department supplies.
- Maintains and makes general repairs to refrigeration units, plumbing fixtures, furniture, woodwork, electrical systems, appliances, elevators, ventilation systems and building structures.
- Installs tile, drywall; makes grouting repairs, patches walls and paints.
- Works with Facilities Manager and coordinates remodeling of club areas.
- Assists in checking fire protection systems for proper operation.
- Assists with the club's ongoing preventive maintenance program for refrigeration, HVAC, electric, plumbing, roofing, elevators and all club buildings.
- Suggests cost-saving alternatives applicable to maintenance and engineering responsibilities.
- Completes maintenance requests assigned by the Facilities Manager.
- Completes other appropriate tasks assigned by the Facilities Manager.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Responds to emergencies at any time.
- Interacts with outside contractors.
- Maintains inventory of maintenance supplies.
- Assures that OSHA work requirements are met.
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Post-secondary vocational/ technical training in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, plumbing, HVAC or related field. Two- or Four-year degree desirable.
- Five years or more of progressive experience as an Engineer, Maintenance Professional or related position.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Able to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
- Frequent repetitive motions.
- Continuous standing and walking.
- Able to work rotating A and B shifts for Club event coverage
