General Job Summary
This individual will work on various in-house equipment, including furnaces, salt pots, forklifts, conveyors, motors, and fans, along with general facility tasks such as changing light bulbs and cleaning drains. Responsibilities include working with the plant electrical system (up to 480 volts), including controls, PLCs, and motor controls.
The technician will perform repairs and preventative maintenance in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturers’ specifications. Duties also include using mechanical, hydraulic, plumbing, and pneumatic skills; testing machinery to ensure safe and optimal performance; completing and documenting work orders; and updating the maintenance work order request list with daily progress.
The role requires providing basic hand tools and participating in a rotating on-call program to support 2nd and 3rd shifts (typically one week at a time). Tasks vary daily, and some weekend and overtime work is required. All company policies must be followed, with special attention to Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations.

Akron Steel Treating Company is currently looking to add to our maintenance staff. We are seeking Industrial Maintenance Technicians for one of our 1st shift schedules: 6:00am–2:30pm or 8:00am–4:30pm.
The ideal maintenance technician at AST is a self-starter who works independently, is organized, and enjoys solving mechanical and electrical problems with a hands-on approach. This person must share our core values of Honesty, Integrity, and Respect.
Experience Required
- 2+ years of experience in general industrial maintenance
- Military service is a plus
- Heat-treating plant experience is not required; training will be provided for candidates with strong attendance and work ethic

Pay
Starting at $22.00+ per hour based on experience
