Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing routine lubrication, preventative maintenance, and assisting senior maintenance mechanics with equipment repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check and maintain proper lubricant levels in production machines.
- Assess coolant condition using a refractometer, pumping out and replacing as needed.
- Change filters and strainers in hydraulic and lubrication systems as required.
- Pump out and replace oils per the preventative maintenance schedule.
- Inspect and replace air filters on electrical control panels and cooling fans.
- Maintain inventory and housekeeping of the oil room and EPA waste storage areas.
- Adhere to company policies and departmental work instructions.
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular attendance and work overtime as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Empty punch hoppers and remove slugs from machines.
- Remove snow from doorways and apply salt in winter conditions.
- Inspect emergency lighting, exit signs, and fire extinguishers according to the maintenance schedule.
- Assist Maintenance Mechanics (A) and (B) with equipment repairs as needed.
Skills Required:

Experience:
- Minimum of six months of related experience required.
Skills:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage, and to interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to work in standardized situations with minimal variables.
Additional Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to operate a forklift.

- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
