Facilities Maintenance Technician II

Location:
Madison, WI – 100% Onsite (5602 Research Park Blvd, Madison, WI 53521)

Schedule:
First shift, Monday – Friday
Start: 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM | Finish: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM (depending on lunch break)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician II to join our small, agile team. This role is responsible for performing inspections, calibrations, troubleshooting, and repairs of systems and equipment throughout our manufacturing, laboratory, and facility spaces. The ideal candidate will have hands-on equipment experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently with a high level of ownership and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for facility, manufacturing, and laboratory equipment.

  • Calibrate equipment and ensure systems are operating per specifications.

  • Complete work orders using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Schedule, coordinate, and escort external service providers as needed.

  • Respond to emergencies and participate in the rotating on-call program.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for one or more building components or equipment systems.

  • Assist management with decisions in areas of expertise and help train other technicians.

  • Maintain documentation per SOPs and ISO 13485 requirements.

  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain cleanliness in work and shared areas.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma required

  • Technical degree

Experience:

  • 2–5+ years of maintenance experience in commercial, manufacturing, or laboratory settings (technical education may substitute for experience)

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

  • Familiarity with repair, calibration, and installation of equipment (laboratory, mechanical, or electronic systems)

  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and manage tasks without constant supervision

  • Good organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Computer proficiency (MS Office, email, CMMS)

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. independently

  • Stand, walk, bend, squat, and reach frequently

  • Work with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

  • May work indoors and outdoors, including in laboratory and manufacturing environments

  • Occasional exposure to chemicals or solutions
