Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of a shopping center, ensuring that the property is safe, clean, and well-maintained for tenants and visitors. This hands-on role involves routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and responding to service requests in a timely and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of buildings, grounds, parking areas, lighting, HVAC systems, signage, irrigation, and common areas.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and service calls from tenants or property management.
- Perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
- Assist with seasonal maintenance, including snow removal, salting sidewalks, and landscaping tasks.
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and materials; notify manager when reordering is needed.
- Monitor and ensure safety compliance on-site, including hazard identification and reporting.
- Coordinate and escort outside contractors/vendors as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance logs.
- Support emergency response procedures, including after-hours issues on a rotating on-call basis.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in commercial or retail real estate.
- Working knowledge of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs.
- Ability to use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
- HVAC certification, trade school, or technical training a plus.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Experience working in a shopping center or multi-tenant commercial property a plus.
Work Schedule:
- MondayFriday with availability for occasional nights/weekends for emergency calls.
