POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title:            Maintenance Technician        Reports To:            Rooms Division Manager

Department:              Engineering                            Date:               May 2025

 

 

Position Summary:  

Responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction and operational efficiency of equipment in all guestrooms and outlets of the hotel.

 

Supervision Received:

Supervision is received from the Rooms Division Manager

 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance and repair of guest rooms, public space and back of the house areas.
  • Maintenance and repair can include touch up; replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting or miscellaneous repairs.
  • Maintenance and repair functions require considerable knowledge of a wide variety of maintenance trades.  Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical experience is used frequently on the job.
  • Communicate parts and materials needs, job status, and project status to appropriate supervisory personnel in a timely manner.
  • Perform duties requiring experience in using basic hand and power tools and the ability to stoop, kneel, grasp, lift, push and pull weights up to 80 lbs, climb ladders and reach in all directions.
  • Adhere to all work order policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a high standard of excellence throughout the hotel.
  • Maintains safety awareness throughout engineering and all departments.
  • Reports all potential safety hazards to the manager immediately.
  • Always represents the hotel in a positive and friendly manner.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings. Including mandatory Safety Meetings.
  • Ensures that all guests are greeted.
  • Complies with all policies and procedures set forth by the Columbia Gorge hotel Employee Handbook.

 

Secondary Functions:

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Two years of building maintenance experience .  Other requirements include:

  • Knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry and painting.
  • Strong preventative maintenance background.
  • Skill in the use of related tools, including both hand and electric tools.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance at all times.              
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to read and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Basic computer skill.

 This position requires the ability to perform those activities necessary to complete the essential functions of the job, either with or without reasonable accommodation.
