We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Tech II to perform comprehensive diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on our transit vehicle fleet. This intermediate-level position requires advanced technical expertise in diesel systems, electrical components, and major vehicle systems to ensure safe and reliable transit operations.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

  • Diagnose complex malfunctions and perform advanced repairs on transit buses and heavy-duty vehicles

  • Service and repair major systems including engines, transmissions, drive trains, braking systems, steering, electrical, cooling, lubrication, and suspension components

  • Rebuild engines and perform comprehensive system overhauls as needed

  • Test-drive vehicles post-repair to verify resolution of issues

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Coordinate required inspections and approvals for major repairs prior to vehicle release

  • Ensure all work complies with Federal, State/Provincial, and local safety regulations

  • Maintain detailed records of time, parts usage, and completed repairs using the company's computerized maintenance management system

Field Operations

  • Respond to road calls and perform emergency repairs in field conditions

  • Identify and report additional maintenance needs discovered during routine work

  • Escalate complex repairs requiring higher-level technician expertise

Workplace Safety & Communication

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment

  • Report unsafe conditions, practices, or evidence of vehicle abuse to Maintenance Manager

  • Collaborate effectively in both team and independent work settings


Required Qualifications

Experience & Technical Skills

  • Minimum 2-4 years of medium/heavy-duty truck fleet mechanic experience

  • Advanced diagnostic capabilities for complex vehicle systems

  • Proficiency in electrical systems troubleshooting and repair

  • Air conditioning system service and repair expertise

  • Comprehensive knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine systems

  • Experience with transit or commercial fleet operations
